PHILSURIN’s Productivity Trainings & Engagements have been a cornerstone in helping sugarcane farmers adopt best practices that boost yield, improve efficiency, and promote sustainability. In collaboration with industry leaders such as Lopez Sugar Corp., First Farmers, HPCo, and Sagay Central Inc., we have been conducting a series of hands-on workshops aimed at transforming sugarcane farming in the Philippines.

• Soil Sampling Techniques: Farmers are trained on how to properly assess their soil’s nutrient content, enabling them to apply fertilizers more effectively and reduce waste.
• Brix Reading for Optimal Harvesting: With proper training in Brix reading, farmers can now measure the sugar content in the cane juice to determine the best time to harvest for maximum profitability.
• Variety Identification and Selection: Understanding the specific traits of sugarcane varieties—such as disease resistance and drought tolerance—is crucial for selecting the right crop for different environments.
